Meet author Charles St Clair —

Musician, author, actor

I am a wanderer of both the world and the imagination, whose life story reads like a journey through magic itself. One of my first published music CDs called “Celtic Ragas” (which sold over 50K copies) found it’s way into Paul McCartney’s hands. He invited me and my then partner with band to travel to Ireland to play at his wedding in 2004. He is a fan.

In a short break between songs I asked McCartney what his favorite track from the CD was. He answered,
“Oh the first track, the one that goes, da da da, da dee dum da da da, (he hummed me the melody of the first track) – that’s our favorite, isn’t it, hon?” he asked his new wife, Heather. I was deeply moved.

Born and raised in the Rust Belt of the USA, I pursued theater and acting before my path led me far beyond the stage. I graduated from Otterbein University, Columbus, Oh. and started the MFA degree for acting at Florida State U. Asolo Conservatory program. After studying acting I moved to San Francisco, and then started traveling, beginning with a trip to India.

In India, I met an eccentric genius health practitioner and doctor with whom I trained in holistic healing, incorporating the emotions, the body and mind in the healing process. It all happened in the energy field of an enlightened being which speeded the awakening process. Ultimately I blended artistry with spiritual exploration, shaping a unique creative voice grounded in wonder and human connection.

My love of storytelling was ignited during several years in Berkeley, California, where I invented original tales each week to tell to the preschoolers — among them the earliest adventures of the Little Witch. Though tiny in stature, she wields deep, elemental magic and journeys across realms experiencing and sharing her authenticity, courage, and magic.

In 2025 I began seeing the Little Witch coming into my mind and hearth again, but I was able to write it all down. After 6 months the story was finished. The Little Witch Adventures is the middle book of three.

What I love about the character the Little Witch is she celebrates the extraordinary in every moment.

Some influences/accomplishments:

* The book “Journey to Ixtlan” by Carlos Castaneda. It made perfect sense to me magic is needed to understand the world.
* The Celtic Ragas concert for Paul McCartney in Ireland at his wedding in 2004.
* Julia Cameron’s book and workshop “The Artist’s Way,” which infused in me the correct relationship between the Artist’s work and spirituality.

Meditation plays a central role in her life, nurturing her creativity and allowing her to explore and express it with freedom and playfulness.
