Synopsis – The Little Witch

The Little Witch is a witch who is one inch tall and lives in a flower. Despite her small size she controls powerful magic spells and healing abilities. She learns about the hero of Cyrano de Bergerac from French literature, and identifies with his stylish flair and courage in battle.
The Little Witch’s flower is in the middle of a garden in the backyard of a human single mother. The little witch discovers she is invisible to most animals and humans, but not all. She strikes up a strange and unique relationship with the woman house owner.
Witches don’t have or use personal names. Normally they communicate telepathically.
The Little Witch decides to take a one day vacation on her broom to Yellowstone National Park and Mount Everest. The night before she leaves she has a vision of two large green eyes belonging to a cat that is disturbing.
After flying on her broom to Yellowstone, she enjoys the salty water of the geysers because witches’ bodies require periodic infusions of salt. Contact with fresh water is poisonous. The witch’s broom flies a top speed of several times the speed of sound, powered by a drive called “Closed Thrill Circuit” which converts the feeling of thrill of flying into energy powering the broom.
After a close call with two coyotes who attempt to trap her, she flies to Nepal to spend some time in her favorite spot of meditation, the peak of Mount Everest. She spontaneously drops into a cafe on the way, in the Nepalese city of Kathmandu to enjoy a cup of chai and take in the exotic vibe.
She continues her trip almost blinded by cloud cover and encounters a large eagle on her ascent to the mountain peak that starts to hunt her. She escapes by casting a spell that makes the eagle believe he’s been sprayed by a skunk.
On the mountain top she goes deep into meditation, looses track of the time and does not make it back to her flower before it closes at sunset. In her haste she crashes into the freshwater pond, poisoning herself and loosing her wand, rendering her helpless.
The neighbor’s cat sensing her presence on the ground, catches and tortures her.
The house owner intuits the little witch needs help and chases the cat away, revealing the depth that she cares about the Little Witch. They begin communicating directly which enables a closer relationship.
The little witch casts an elaborate spell with the help of the house owner to retrieve her wand from the pond. The witch and the house owner develop an effective way of communicating by writing in salt with a toothpick.
The house owner nurses the little witch back to health by providing salt baths. Their bond deepens, and the house owner becomes more aware of the deep connection she has with magic.
The house owner’s youngest son becomes deathly ill, not responding to medical attention, and appears he is going to die. At the last minute the little witch intervenes, casting a powerful healing spell on the boy, and he swiftly recovers. The house owner learns it was her own trust in the witch as well as the witch’s magic that healed her son.
The house owner tells the little witch her name is Dee, and learns witches have no personal name. She offers the name of Isadora, taken from Isadora Duncan, for her to use for the witch, who accepts it reluctantly.
The two continue to enjoy each other’s company.
